The Peterkin Sport and Fitness Academy (PSFA) cordially invites all swimmers interested in participating in an Open Water Swim to the

PSFA New Year Open Water Swimming Championship 

THE COURSE & VENUE

Reduit Beach, The Ramp, is a picturesque calm bay in the Caribbean Sea, located in Rodney Bay. Its clear water and white sands are a great place to simply relax, or enjoy a morning at the beach/.

The course will be rectangular, marked out by (4) Four large Orange buoys: 2 x 475m legs and 2 x 25m legs. This course will be measured as a 1km course per lap.

*(We would like to suggest that all swimmers participating are capable of swimming 500 meters

Or 1000 meters, and trust that coaches, parents and interested swimmers will keep safety at the forefront of their thoughts before entering this event).

The Races that will be offered are:

  • 3KM RACE: Each swimmer completes 3 laps of the course, (must be eligible age to enter race)
  • 1 KM RACE: Each swimmer completes 1 lap of the course, (open to all swimmers)
  • 500 DASH: Each swimmer swim one leg of the course

The race will be conducted as follows:

START:

All Races will be started by an AIR HORN/WHISTLE and swimmers will begin out the water, and enter the water from the beach.

FINISH:

Swimmers will swim toward the beach after swimming past the final buoy. Swimmers will swim toward the beach, run up the beach and through the designated Finish Area to cross the finish line.

AGE GROUPS

9 & Under – Eligible to swim 500m or 1km

·       10 & Over – Eligible to swim 1km and 3km

  • All participants will be placed according to their age groups.
  • The age of the swimmer on December 31, 2017 will determine the age group that the swimmer is eligible to swim.
  • Female and Male swimmers will compete together (as above)

Qualifications: Competitors must be amateurs as defined by FINA .

by Thursday, 25 Jan.  A verbal response of your desire to participate as soon as possible would be helpful. Swimmers may enter on Race Day up to, but no later than 7:00am for the 3K and 500M and 7:30 am for the 1K  

ENTRY RULES & GUIDELINES

  1. There is no limit to the number of swimmers, which your club can enter in an event.
  2. Unattached swimmers are encouraged to participate..
  3. A swimmer may enter either the 3K, 1K or 500M
  4. The fee is EC$20.00 – per swimmer.
  5. Entry Fees must be paid on arrival prior to the race. No swimmer will be allowed to start the race without payment of fees.
  6. Swimmers may enter on the morning of the event.

We will have safety crafts in the water during the race to provide assistance for participating swimmers.
